Woman awarded £178,000 for sex discrimination after 1 weeks service.....
Angelica Graham had only been working for her employer for just one week! Angelica had been groped and subjected to verbal sexual comments by another employee.

Medical evidence provided that the consequences of such a horrific experience would prevent Angelica from returning to work for 2 years. This was the crucial evidence that made the Employment Tribunal order the payout.

How to make a claim before getting the job.....
Mr Hussain has been successful in several claims for race and sex discrimination where employers have supposedly not employed him because he was Asian and male. Mr Hussain applied for jobs with his standard CV and was turned down. Later when he posed as a female he was offered an interview. Mr Hussain has managed to win at least £40,000 in a string of tribunal actions and that's before he has even set foot in the door!

Name calling at work led to a payout of £13,000.....
Claudia Baptise, 28 who is black was subjected to racial comments at work where she was told it was all part of having a sense of humour. Being called a "black bastard" or a "white honky" was typical office banter according to the firms advertising manager. The Employment Tribunal in Leeds awarded Ms Baptise with £13,000 compensation after it ruled she had been the victim of racist remarks.

Floodgates opened for claims on badly designed office equipment.....
Linda Newsome, an accountant complained that her workstation was inadequate in that it was causing her back pain. The constant twisting and turning from her desk to her screen has led to Ms's Newsome's career coming to an end 19 years early. Her employer's failure to carry out a proper assessment of her workspace has led to a possible payout of £250,000! This case appears to be the first in many possible claims against employer's for their lack of care over their employees work conditions.

Getting tough on health and safety.....
In 2001/02, the Health and Safety Executive prosecuted 1,064 firms on the basis of not having a sound Health and Safety Policy. 895 of the companies convicted paid over £10 million in compensation. It seems that the lack of adequate health and safety measures could lead to company directors or owners facing 5 years in jail or companies being closed down!
