Health & Safety legislation is becoming an increasingly complex area of the law and consequently, remaining compliant can prove to be very stressful for those responsible. Breaches in regulations not only place employees at risk but can also expose companies and directors to the threat of criminal prosecution.
At ELAS our range of Health & Safety services present employers with a simple, cost-effective way of providing a safe working environment, whilst achieving compliance will all relevant legislation. Out team of experts have extensive experience in commerce, industry and training, making them well equipped to develop health & safety systems that are tailored to the individual needs of each organisation.
We will start by visiting your premises to get a measure of your business and assess whether your work environment complies with current health & safety legislation. Once we have identified where the risks lie, you will receive practical advice on how to undertake suitable and sufficient risk assessments of your work activities, highlighting any areas that need priority attention. Your general risk assessment will be produced in a written format and, in addition, we will provide you with detailed control measures in an easy to understand format.
Specific Fire Risk Assessments
In addition to the general risk assesment there is a legal duty to carry out a specific fire risk assesment. We will put this together for you during our initial visit.
A Health & Safety Policy
Having completed the general risk assessment, we will produce a written statement of your health and safety policy as required by law. The document will detail the responsibilities of both management and employees within your organisation and outline the practical arrangements that have been put in place to implement the policy.
Risk Management Report
In identifying risk, we will produce a comprehensive report to summarise and grade the effectiveness of each existing control measure. As well as outlining the positive action that has already been taken to control risk, our consultants will address any negative factors by highlighting improvements required and a proposed timescale for implementing those improvements.
Installation and Safety Audit Visits
Once we have developed a health and safety system that meets your requirements, we will visit your premises to introduce this to you as well as offer advice on its implementation. This will ensure the full understanding of those responsible and assist you in the smooth operation of health and safety procedures. Moreover, as part of our ongoing support we will visit you at regular periods and conduct a thorough review of the system and its effectiveness within your organisation. This will be documented to you in a confidential report so that you are fully aware of the requirements for improvement.
24 Hour Telephone Advice Service
Should there be a minor query or a sudden crisis at work, you will have unlimited access to comprehensive advice 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We aim to provide you with total peace of mind, knowing that help and support is only a phone call away.
Indemnity
In the unlikely event of a prosecution, our advice is fully supported by a comprehensive indemnity, which is underwritten by a major insurance company. This will provide you with up to £50,000 of the legal defense costs, subject to terms and conditions, and also allows for the provision of expert witness testimony.

Whether reminding you to conduct routine procedures and inspections at appropriate times or ensuring that the individuals responsible for health and safety have the right skills and training, the software will provide complete peace of mind - equipping you with the tools you need to manage your health and safety requirements across the company.
